Life on Mars

Preparation for foundation production

Practical exercise - Life on Mars

For this project, Karolina and I had to make a video, copying the shots used in a clip of Life on Mars. We had to time each shot correctly to ensure the end product matched the actual clip.
The types of shots we had to use were one shots, close ups, a high angle shot, an establishing shot and tracking shots. Karolina and I had to move around the school to find suitable places to film, for example the shot looking up at the trees.
The equipment Karolina and I had to use whilst filming these shots were a digital video recorder, a dolly for the 360 degree shot, and a tripod. The programs we used were Final Cut Express to edit our short film, and iMovie to upload our work. This was the first time I had used this sort of equipment, but through this exercise I can now use the equipment and programs well.
Once Karolina and I had filmed the clip, we had to use 'Final Cut Express' to edit the clips to make them shorter and add transitions. The transition I used was cross dissolve, this allowed two clips to overlap in a neater way.
